University in Queensland Supports Eco-Tourism in Cambodia

I just read this news. This story is relate to my term paper in case of not only the government support the Eco-tourism program, but the foreign university also support this program. And this story tells me the involvement of two differences countries which are cooperate in develop their countries, too.

The University of Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, will help sustaining and developing ecological in Cambodia's tourism industry. Gayle Mayes, the Sunshine Coast lecturer and researcher, said Cambodia was very active to has a university of tourism and hospitality. She also said that Cambodia is finding people who help in tourism planning, strategically, and teaching of tourism employees in the tourism business. The representative from Cambodia's Department of International Cooperation and ASEAN, Thok Sokhom, told that the MOU may be with a local university, and it had national involvement for both countries. He also said the government of Australia wants to see the potential of tourism industry, which was supported by the MOU, will take part in climate-change easing. However, the ministry of tourism might rely on their partners in term of the facility and higher education in order to have a national university of tourism and hospitality in Cambodia.

In my opinion, it is good for the countries in South East Asia to take part in Eco-tourism industry. The natural resources of Asia are very abundant, and suit to make them to be Eco-tourism attractions. So I hope that in the future South East Asia will lead the Eco-tourism industry.

The Conference of Global Eco-tourism Representatives in Queensland

I just read this news. This news shows us about how important of Eco-tourism in the world tourism industry. Moreover, it shows the main problems which people who relate in this field should work on and solve it expeditiously.

The 18th annual Global Eco Asia-Pacific Conference Tourism was attended by 275 representatives of Eco-tourism industry. The conference was held in the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, which is the place that leads many travelers, and there is popular in Eco-tourism as well. They considered the various issues such as preserve the natural, occasions, Eco-tourism, protected areas, and climate change. Peter Lawlor, Tourism minister of Australia, said he glad that the Global Eco Conference was occur in Queensland, and it was a better time to consult the importance issues because the world now has Biodiversity, which might affect to the tourism industry.

There are many kinds of tourism program. Now, Eco-tourism becomes to be one of popular tourism program. It is obvious that people focus on this program because it kinds of difference from other programs, and it also good for the world's natural.

I just read this news. This news is about investment the Eco-tourism program in Colombia. I chose this story because Colombia indicates their are keen to develop tourism industry to be more qualitative than it has been.

The Colombia's government wants to develop country's tourism industry by called for the investment of Spanish tourism companies, pointing out that his country is suitable to be an Eco-tourism destination. The government hopes that the Spanish companies will make a great quality in hospitality, and emphasized on the tax exempts for investment in Eco-tourism. Sergio Diaz-Granados, Colombia's trade minister, said that the main troubles to investment in Colombia are terrorism and drug trafficking are gone, and the number of visitors to Colombia has been increased significantly. Now, the international flights in Colombia have increased more than before 2000, and the investment of foreigners are also increased. However, there is still have a problem about quality of Colombian tourism companies, there have less than 3% that got the quality certificates. So that is why the government wants the Spanish tourism companies to invest in his country. Their plan are to support the excellence of tradition and culture and quality of demands in the provide of many services.

I think it is too fast for Spain to invest in Colombia because Colombia is still have the nation's problems such as illegal drug trade, inflation, and terrorism that may affect to the tourism industry as well. However, I go through many pages about tourist attractions in Colombia, there are many places that might be the popular places because they are very attractive and wonderful. So I hope they will solve their problems and become to be the one of high quality in tourism industry.

Eco-tourism Plan of Queensland Government

I just read this news.This news shows that Queensland has a good idea to make empty areas to be tourist attractions. And this news will be talked in my term paper also.

Kate Jones, Queensland Sustainability Minister, tries to ease worries about work and develop plan of low impact Eco-tourism lodging in the Lamington National Park inland of the Gold Coast. The state government supports the plan while the Gold Coast and Hinterland Environment Council is against the plan. Ms. Jones also says that Cradle Mountain is where the low impact tourism in national parks has been implemented. And Cradle Mountain is well known for low impact tourism.

I think it is good for Queensland to support Eco-tourism because they have cleared areas to make Eco-tourism, and tourists can travel in that areas and do not harm to the environment. Furthermore, it might help them to benefit a lot of income as well.

The Developing of Russia National Park

I chose this news because it relates to my term paper directly. Developing place's scenery makes that place be more livable and good for the environment. Hence, the national parks should be the cozy place because there always have many people visit these place to rest, and do many activities. So the system and qualification of the parks have to good enough to support visitors. However, the government of Russia wants to develop the Eco-tourism program to be more popular because it gains a lot of money to improve the national parks.

The government of Russia will develop 11 national parks and create new 21 parks. A prime minister of Russia, Vladimir Putin, told that they will improve the adequate and the payment of workers and provide them new material. Reduced level of salaries make national reserves in the Far North, Siberia and the Far Eastern areas lack of highly skilled personnel. Putin suggested the law for the development of recreation tourism in the area of national parks. There should be the law with the strictest ecological standards when it comes to the land rental, building constructions, and construction of tourists' facilities in the territory of national parks. And everything should be under proper control.

In my opinion, developing the national parks are good for cities' scenery, and attract the tourists as well. According to this news, it indicates the significance of Eco-tourism program. It is obvious that Eco-tourism benefits a lot of income to help developing in this field.

Hotel Prices Lower for Melbourne Cup 2010

I just read this news. It is about the hotels in Australia reduced prices of rooms, they expect the travelers to stay longer but it does not work. It shows the problems in hotel and tourism industry, which is relate to my term paper.

In general, when the price is low, the demand for goods will increase, and vice versa. However, this theory does not hold true for the demand for hotel room for the Melbourne Cup 2010. The news report shows that the demand for hotel staying in Melbourne during the Melbourne Cup 2010 has not increased even though the price has been lowered from last year. The decrease in hotel room rate does not attract travelers to stay longer either.

Melbourne Cup 2010 in Australia has just started. The hotels in Melbourne have decreased prices from $194 in 2009 to $185 for Melbourne Cup 2010. The decrease in price makes the hotels become more affordable for the travelers in general. On the other hand, decreased prices did not mean the travelers will extend their staying, they still staying 5 nights as in 2009 also. Although, the prices have decreased but this price is expensive than the price in normal time when there is no special event as well.

I think this topic might be the arguments of many hotels in Melbourne. For those who plan to visit the city for the Melbourne Cup, they might not want to stay longer than the time of the race. So why they expect the travelers to stay more than 5 nights, it is quite wondering. In my opinion, all hotels in Melbourne should plan a better strategy for next year to achieve their goal for making the travelers stay in hotels for a long time.
